There have been many people involved in the computerisation of the project. Lou Burnard of OUCS and Paul Salotti (once of OUCS) were responsible for database development in the early 1980s. Sebastian Rahtz did much of the original programming in FORTRAN and Spitbol (a version of Snobol), but in more recent times has been responsible for the type-setting aspects of the project. The author's involvement mainly covers the years 1986 to 1994, when he was employed on a half-time basis by the British Academy as Data Manager for the LGPN. Subsequently he has been less active other than to solve minor problems and complete the computer-based documentation.
The author would also like to thank all those who have been involved in the data editing and who suffered the fruits of various computer labours at first hand. Their experiences were invaluable. Finally, the author would particularly like to thank Peter Fraser, as overall Project Leader and Elaine Matthews who has probably suffered more than anyone at the keyboard.
