Tombstone of Kritolaos. From Trichonion, Aitolia. 2nd century BC.
Richly decorated pedimental stele. Above, in the pediment, Scylla swinging a rudder; on second level, Triton attacking a sea monster. Below, knotted oak leaves, and two lions attacking a bull. The name of the deceased, in very fine relief lettering, is in the genitive:
Κριτολαου: ‘(the tomb of) Kritolaos’.
