Peter Fraser Photographic ArchiveTelmessosThe ancient city of Telmessos was founded prior to the 5th century BC, and was the largest city in Lycia. In ancient times Telmessos was renowned for its school of diviners, consulted by, among others, King Croesus and Alexander the Great. The ruins, and many spectacular Lycian tombs, are located near the modern town of Fethiye.
