Rhodes and Rhodian Funerary Monuments

During the 1960s and 70s Peter Fraser carried out an extensive study in preparation for his volume Rhodian Funerary Monuments, published in 1977 by the Clarendon Press, Oxford. The aim of the study was to describe the main classes of funerary monuments found in Rhodes, and to investigate some social and religious questions raised by them. Hundreds of photographs were taken during the course of this study, and the Lexicon now holds this uniquely comprehensive collection. It includes both those images used to illustrate the book, and a further collection of Rhodian landscapes, sites, and other related material, accumulated during the course of Peter Fraser's work on the island.
