Peter Fraser Photographic ArchiveAmphiareion Thrones at OroposThe Amphiareion at Oropos, sanctuary of the hero Amphiaraos, was greatly famed and frequented by the sick in search of a cure. The largest building in the sanctuary is a stoa (mid-4th century BC) which served as the enkoimeterion for the patients. The proscenium and five marble thrones in situ in the sanctuary's theatre (post-200 BC) have been restored.
