Peter Fraser Photographic ArchiveAmasiaAncient Amaseia, in northern Turkey, was a fortified city high on the cliffs above the River Yesilirmak. The birth place of Strabo the geographer, the site is also renowned for its Ottoman period wooden houses, and Pontic rock tombs.
